
As the real life drama-saga known as Jon & Kate Plus 8 continues, it would seem that the Gosselins are not the only ones banking on their recent thrust of fame.
They might have gotten almost 10 millions viewers, but celebrity magazines like Us Weekly, who has featured the struggling parents on their cover for the last six weeks, are rolling in dough off of the Goss gossip.
The May 11th issue, which broke the story of Jon’s alleged affair, sold over 1 million copies, which is a huge boost – over 100K – from what they were selling before. The five following issues have all sold just as well, if not better as the latest issue, with the headline Inside Jon’s Prison, has sold between 1.2 million and 1.3 million copies!
Damn!
Us Weekly editor Janice Min believes that the once relatively obscure couple, now tabloid gold mine, are a topic readers feel strongly about: “There was something about the story that really resonated with readers. The thing I loved about it is that it introduced new celebrities to the world of celebrity journalism.”
It’s called trashy gossip!
But no matter what you call it, we love it all the same.
