Looks like the Jonas Brothers have called it quits…from their record label!
Six years and three albums later, the JoBros are separating with Hollywood Records, a label owned by Disney.
Not only will the boys now be free agents, they have also bought and regained rights to the band’s merchandising, publishing AND most importantly, their master recordings!
Smart move!
Youngest bro, Nick says:
├óΓé¼┼ôThis was a decision that we made as a group. Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways, there is emotion tied to it. We’ve been blessed to have a lot of success with Hollywood and with Disney, but speaking on behalf of my brothers and our team, we’re all looking forward to this next chapter. We’re ready for that next step as a group, and being able to take our work with us was so important.├óΓé¼┬¥
Sounds like the breakup wasn├óΓé¼Γäót a messy one — a Hollywood Records spokesperson commented the relationship was ├óΓé¼┼ôamicably ended├óΓé¼┬¥ and wished the boys the best!
This is definitely a HUGE accomplishment for Kevin, Joe and Nick, because now they’ll have more rights and control than most artists EVER get.
Manager Johnny Wright says:
“This will allow them to chart their own destiny.”
Wright also confessed that the odds of the brothers doing another show or movie for Disney were slim to none, which also helped them come to their decision.
Now, the boys have more creative freedom than ever, WITHOUT any restrictions or deadlines from a label holding them back.
Nick explains:
├óΓé¼┼ôIn these past three years, my brothers and I have not released a record, but we’ve really come into our own as men. And we’ve also lived life, which is an important part to making a record. ├óΓé¼┬ª I’ve got a studio set-up in my apartment in New York where we can all put down our ideas. It’s a really liberating feeling to just be able to create and write whatever is on our hearts.├óΓé¼┬¥
The Jonas Brothers plan to release their new album by the end of this year or early 2013, while working on other side projects, as well.
As we announced yesterday, E! will be following the married life of eldest bro, Kevin, in the new reality show Married To Jonas, set to premiere August 19.
Nick has also been busy on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Joe is getting back to acting as well, with a feature film in the works, which he plans on producing!
Sounds like the brothers are JUST getting started!
