Joshua Jackson & Jodie Turner-Smith Want To Raise Their Kids Outside The US: 'White Supremacy Is Overt'

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner Smith want to leave the US

2020 continues to be the Year of Megxit, with celebrities far and wide fleeing toxic environments for greener pastures.

The latest to consider making a Megxit-like migration pattern are expectant parents Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson, who are apparently contemplating putting down roots outside the US as they prepare to welcome their first child together.

In an interview with the Sunday Times published last weekend, the pregnant Queen & Slim star revealed she and The Affair star are leaning toward raising their baby far, far away from the devolved, violent MAGA-ville they believe America is becoming.

Turner-Smith told the publication:

“The racial dynamics over here are fraught. White supremacy is overt. It’s the reason I don’t want to raise my kids here. I don’t want my kids to grow up doing active shooter drills at school.”

Few parents do!

When asked where they might live instead, the 33-year-old actress quickly dismissed her native U.K., adding:

“England has gone off the rails.”

So, where does that leave them?

“I was thinking maybe Canada.”

Like we said: the Year of Megxit!

Royals references aside, the Land of Maple Leaf would be a great place for the couple to put down roots, as Jackson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and both actors seem to enjoy being out of the spotlight.

Turner-Smith is especially reserved about certain aspects of her personal life: despite the fact that the pair tied the knot after picking up a marriage license in August, she wouldn’t confirm the matrimony to the publication. She teased:

“I haven’t said to anybody, ‘Yeah, we got married’. People are assuming whatever they want, but when people tell me ‘Congratulations’, I say ‘Thank you’. ”

LOLz!

However, the actress did get candid about the prejudice she’s experienced because of her skin color. Reflecting on the comments that came from (racist) critics after she and Jackson tied the knot, she said:

“There was this wave of people who were upset that I was possibly married to a white man. In America interracial dating or marriage is not something that is as accepted. Certain people feel strongly against it, in both communities. I felt it from the black community. It is so complicated. I don’t want to give it too much energy. The horrific things that people were saying, it makes you. … I’m learning there are certain things I have to really keep for myself.”

Hopefully that’s not the case in Canada!

Criticism or not, the love between the two is real. Turner-Smith revealed:

“We are obsessed with each other… [I] went back and rewatched a lot of [Joshua’s] movies. I do it whenever we’re apart because I miss him so much. He loves that I am obsessed with him.”

Awww!

She added of her pregnancy:

“Joshua tells me every day, ‘The way you’re handling this is incredible.’ He’s more tired than I am.”

Wishing the couple nothing but happiness — wherever they land!
