Judge Who Sparked Outrage For Stanford Rape Case Verdict Gets A New Judicial Term -- But Will He Be Recalled Before He Can Finish It?

no title
Judge Aaron Persky has gotten major heat since he sentenced former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner to just six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster back in January 2015.
The judge’s ridiculously light prison sentence sparked outrage, with opposers launching a change.org petition to remove him from the bench — which now has over 500,000 signatures.
But despite those efforts, Persky still managed to quietly slither his way into a new judicial term on Tuesday!
California voters would have voted for the Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge’s re-election on Tuesday, but he was running unopposed.

Even though Persky was able to sneak his way to a new term, experts say his controversial ruling will make it unlikely that he will complete his six-year term.
Stanford law professor Michele Dauber said:

“His victory will be short-lived. I am 100 percent confident we will recall him. His decision hit every woman in the state of California in the gut. His ruling was dangerous and wrongheaded. We need to replace him with someone who understands violence against women.”

Dauber has started a formal recall website, which garnered $8,000 in donations in just eight hours.
The professor also said a handwritten petition drive will begin soon to collect the approximate 70,000 signatures needed to put Persky’s recall on the ballot.
Seeing as how many people want this man off the bench, that shouldn’t be too hard!
