Oopsies!
That’s clearly what Julianne Hough is thinking right now as she got some serious backlash for her Halloween costume that included totally awkward and inappropriate blackface.
While most people are fairly aware of how offensive it is, Julianne dressed up this weekend in blackface as she portrayed the character Crazy Eyes from Orange Is The New Black.
But after the public reacted, Julianne took to Twitter to explain her costume choice. She wrote:
“I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.”
While some people might not accept the apology, we’re glad she’s at least admitting the mistake.
We just hope celebs and non-celebs think twice before they put on their Halloween costumes this year!
