We still can’t wrap our heads around what’s going on with Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich. Mostly because our heads can’t stretch across three states!
As you may have heard, the Dancing With The Stars vet and the former hockey pro are sheltering in place in two very different places, apparently planning on spending the entire pandemic apart from one another. Julianne is in their (and we use that term loosely) home in El Lay, hanging with pals who look like Prince Caspian, while Brooks is enjoying the absolute solitude of a cabin in the Idaho wilderness.
While both are in touch with their fanbases through social media, virtual exercise classes, and podcasts, they almost never even reference one another. However, they are NOT separated. Well, technically, they are — but they aren’t officially separated, in a marital sense.
So what’s the freakin’ deal??

Well, a new source is offering insight into the unorthodox relationship setup, telling E! News the couple are in no hurry to end their marriage because the current situation is totally “working for them for now.” Being apart is working to keep them together?? The insider explains:
“They continue to spend time apart and are doing their own thing. They are still in contact and have not committed to any future decisions.”
We’re not ones to judge… LOLz, OK we guess we are. But does it even count as a real marriage when you don’t live together or spend any time with one another? If it does, then every ’90s sitcom episode about fake marriages for a green card totally lied to us.

Well, according to this source, they aren’t even thinking about breaking up right now:
“They are happy doing it this way and will see what happens.”
What happens is eventually one of them is going to have a reason NOT to be married, i.e. another love interest, and it’s all going to end. Just our prediction.
But at least for the moment breaking up and divorce are not on the agenda. The insider says:
“They have so much love for one another and just want to make sure the other one is at their best and the happiest they can be. They are staying present and in the moment. This is the way it looks for right now.”
