We have been trying to figure out what’s going on with Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich for months now.
We know some couples are having a hard time being stuck together all the time during the quarantine — Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have voiced their frustrations, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly living on opposite ends of the house, tons of couples have already broken up.

But Jules and Brooks — a couple who were already sending some really mixed signals about their status before the coronavirus lockdown — went the extra mile, literally, by quarantining themselves in SEPARATE STATES.
So are they already broken up? Are are they just being smart about this? Avoiding the fights they know they’d have by taking some space? (Which for our money sounds pretty unhealthy — we mean, do you really want to be married to someone you know you can’t stand to be in a house with for a few months?)
They aren’t saying, so we’ve been looking for any little clues, which have mostly come in the form of them forgetting to mention each other — and sometimes come in photos of strolls with very hot guys.
But we feel like Julianne maybe gave us a big tell in her new interview with Women’s Health. After being asked a very health-related question about getting pregnant, the 31-year-old gave a really thought-out response essentially about why she is not ready for kids right now:
“I think the healthier I am from the inside out — as far as my beliefs, my energy, what I’m putting into my body — the better prepared I’ll be when the time comes.”
Cool, cool. But it was the next thing she said regarding having a baby with hubby Brooks that got our minds spinning:
“We never actually tried to get pregnant. It was more of a precautionary measure: Let’s do our due diligence for the future by freezing eggs.”
OK, y’all caught that, right? Not “we haven’t tried yet” or “we aren’t trying right now” — we “never tried.” Past tense. Like that ship has sailed.
Even the talk of freezing her eggs she made clear was not with the intention of actually having children with the man, just a better-safe-than-sorry approach after her endometriosis diagnosis. Prudence even.
When asked whether she thinks she’ll ever become a parent, she dances around answering — but gives even more clues:
“I believe in soul love, whatever that looks like. I kind of don’t believe in labels. It doesn’t mean that I won’t have a baby, etc. It just means that I’ve unplugged from what I feel like I should be doing versus what I actually want to be doing.”
“Whatever that looks like”? This does not sound like a girl who thinks her husband is her soulmate, y’all.
