UPDATE! 7:29 PST: According to TMZ, Jussie reportedly told authorities during his arrest that he has a drug problem that has never been treated. Because of this information, the actor’s sentence could be reduced if convicted.
However, according to legal docs, Smollett answered “no” to alcohol and mental health problems.

Jussie Smollett allegedly requested drugs from Abel Osundairo, who — along with brother Ola — were allegedly paid by the actor to stage his January Chicago attack.
As we reported on Thursday, State of Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr. set a $100,000 bond for the Empire star, who faces one felony count of filing a false police report.

Outside of court, Cook County prosecutor Risa Lanier read from a bond proffer that detailed extensive evidence against Smollett, including text messages, phone records, and witness statements.
The document claimed that the now 36-year-old has been friends with Abel since the fall of 2017, as the two socialized, exercised, and worked together on the Fox show.
According to alleged text messages, Smollett asked Abel — who was a stand-in for the character of “Kai” — for designer drugs.
Since the spring of 2018, Jussie allegedly requested, on several occasions, for Osundairo to provide him with “Molly,” commonly known as ecstasy.
The bond proffer also stated that Smollett texted Osundairo on January 25 — days before the “attack” — saying “might need your help on the low.” “You around to meet up and talk face to face?”
The two allegedly met to stage the attack, which Lanier said was prompted because the thespian was disappointed in the studio’s response to a racist and homophobic letter addressed to Smollett.
(While police allege that Smollett sent the letter to himself, federal investigators are still probing this aspect of the case.)
Allegedly, Smollett then recruited Abel’s brother Ola, who worked on the show as an extra.
While Smollett allegedly intended for the attack to take place at 10 p.m. on January 28, it is reported that it was rescheduled for 2 a.m because his flight from New York to Chicago was delayed by four hours.
Prosecutors said the alleged staged attack took about 45 seconds, and was just outside of camera range.
Afterward, phone records allegedly showed that Abel and Jussie spoke for more than eight minutes on January 30, while Osundairo was in Istanbul.
If convicted, Smollett could face one to three years in prison.
