'Empire' Execs Don't Agree With Police Allegation That Jussie Smollett Staged Attack For Better Pay

Jussie Smollett Case Updates

Maybe money wasn’t the motive?!
Chicago PD officials have been keen to argue that Jussie Smollett‘s alleged reason to stage his apparent attack had to do with wanting to raise his profile — and his salary — on Empire.
But if that’s really the case, well, that’d be news to the show’s producers and executives.

According to TMZ, those on the show — including creator Lee Daniels — never heard “even a whisper” from Jussie complaining about being underpaid. Further, sources say that if Smollett really did believe he was underpaid, he kept it to himself.
He was in the middle of a long-term contract at the time of the attack, pulling in a reported $125,000 per episode. FWIW, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard each reportedly make $250,000 per episode.
Sounds like a lot of money!! But more to the point… seems like sources are skeptical money was the issue here.
So if not paychecks, then what? Well, what do U think, Perezcious readers?!
