Justin Baldoni’s new haircut wasn’t just for vanity… It was for his mental health.
Earlier this week, the Jane the Virgin star debuted a brand new hairstyle. He traded in his flowing locks for a MUCH shorter buzz on the sides and back, leaving just a bit of length on top. If you haven’t seen yet, you can ch-ch-check it out HERE.
But it turns out the bold cut carries far more significance than fans initially thought…
Shortly after the 41-year-old revealed his new look, an insider spoke to DailyMail.com about how it was necessary amid all his legal drama with Blake Lively over It Ends with Us:
“Justin’s physical and mental well-being was severely impacted by this. It is extremely disturbing for him to look at photos of himself from last summer when all of this was going on. He spent endless hours on this project, and for it to end this way really caused him a great deal of pain. He lost weight, struggled with poor eating and sleeping habits, and became severely depressed, constantly having to defend himself against false accusations. Losing his jobs and watching his career fall apart pushed him into a very dark place.”
So the haircut was a way for him to physically distance himself from that dark place he’s been in… That’s so, SO sad.
According to the insider, getting his side of the story was the first thing to helped him heal a bit before heading to Hawaii with his family:
“Things began to take a turn when the truth started to come to light. In response, Justin decided to leave LA and take his family to Hawaii for an extended stay. Being there, he has reconnected with his true self and is now in physical, mental, and spiritual harmony.”
We’re glad to hear that. And now with his now look, he’s apparently pleased with his physical appearance:
“He loves the way he looks now, and he knows this will benefit him when this is over, and he begins auditioning for roles again.”
We’re sure! His wavy locks are now so tied to everything It Ends with Us! The insider added:
“Justin is working through all of this and is very confident that, in the end, justice will prevail.”
A second insider noted that Justin’s family, including wife Emily and their children, has been huge in getting him through legal battle:
“The lawsuit has served to reinforce how important family is. He can’t allow this to consume him and impact his wife and children. Emily has been his rock so the least he can do is be equally great to her and their kids. He is putting his health and family first.”
If a haircut is what he needed to do to get there, we’re happy he got it!
