Justin Baldoni is getting called out again — this time for an “awkward” interaction with another iconic blonde superstar!
Amid the drama between the actor/director and Blake Lively, her past interviews have been resurfacing — and coming back to bite her. But it goes both ways!
Justin’s old interview with Fuse is in the spotlight now. Why? Justin recounts meeting Britney Spears in the January 2017 sitdown — and fans are finding it totally creepy!

In the interview, the future It Ends With Us star talked about when the Princess of Pop guest-starred on his show Jane the Virgin. She played herself in an episode of the series, which was obviously a HUGE deal for everyone on set! Justin himself admitted he came off a bit strong — and “scared” her when she first arrived:
“I know she was a fan of the show. We were shooting and then a few of us that weren’t in scenes with her came to watch one of her scenes. Because I had tweeted her and she had tweeted me back, I’d gone up to her [too], so in my mind we were friends, but we weren’t. I went up and I gave her a big hug and I think I scared her.”
The incredibly awkward interaction had his co-stars laughing, according to the actor, and he had one thought in his head when Britney walked away:
“Did I just harass Britney Spears?”
YEESH! Considering he’s being accused of sexual harassment in a lawsuit right now, probably not the wisest choice of words! TBH, it is yet another example of Justin not having a good sense of boundaries, much like Blake addresses in her lawsuit… even if he was at least somewhat aware of it after the fact in this case.
And if that wasn’t a strange enough moment, he added that the 43-year-old probably personally requested she not do any scenes with him:
“I was a huge Britney Spears fan in high school. What adolescent boy wasn’t? The guest star I was most excited to work with was Britney Spears. And then it turned out, I didn’t get to work with her. And there was zero scenes with Rafael and Britney Spears — probably at her request.”
Justin was making light of the incident… but we think he was kidding on the square. He’s being self-deprecating in the interview, but we legitimately think he wasn’t happy with how he acted around Brit Brit!
The filmmaker even questioned whether his social media joke towards her caused some friction:
“I had tweeted her. I was going to bring a poster from her Live [From] Las Vegas tour to set and I didn’t do that because I don’t have one. I was joking. But I think she thought I was serious.”
So all she sees is a guy messing with her? Lord knows she’s had enough of that in her life! See the interview (below):
Social media users were quick to comment on the resurfaced clip, with many expressing concern over how he told the story and what went down:
“‘Did I just harass Britney?’ why would he say that
”
“‘She tweeted me back…So in my mind, we were friends.’ I’m seeing a pattern”
“it’s actually terrifying how he brands himself as some protector of women when in reality he has no boundaries and feels entitled to touching them without consent or permission”
“Britney likely didn’t have access to her own phone or twitter account at that point (this was peak conservatorship). She was probably taken aback because she had no idea who he was… because she most likely didn’t write the tweet.”
That last one is a good point! People are quick to forget how different things were in the conservatorship years!
Some people came to his defense, though, saying the issue with this interview is “a total reach”:
“Be so serious. That’s a total reach”
“Giving someone a hug isn’t sexual harassment”
“ok – this is just stupid. britney felt uncomfortable? – not exactly the gauge we use for accusations”
“This is a pathetic attempt to detract from actual facts &, if we’re pulling up history”
