Bad news for Blake Lively! Her texts with Taylor Swift are not going to remain private!
As we previously reported, the 37-year-old actress claimed Justin Baldoni’s legal team continued to go after the text messages between the former friends while refusing to give her “the documents they publicly claimed to have received as part of a deal to withdraw their subpoenas to Ms. Swift and her counsel.” Because of that, she believed she shouldn’t have to produce the “documents responsive to” those requests and asked the court to protect her messages with Taylor. Blake also argued Justin only wants their communications so he can weaponize the Swifties against her amid the legal battle.
However, Justin claimed that he absolutely needs those text messages to help his case after dropping the subpoena against Tay! In response on Tuesday, his attorneys said the messages are possibly key to proving Blake not only lied about the sexual harassment she claims to have faced, as well as her allegations of a retaliatory smear campaign, but she never suffered emotional distress afterward! You see, Justin’s legal team pointed out Blake identified Taylor as someone with knowledge about what she experienced on the It Ends With Us set. Since the pair socialized amid the ordeal, they argue the Anti-Hero singer would know if the Gossip Girl alum was emotionally distressed or not.
Here is the thing, though. How would these messages prove she may or may not have lied? Blake could have acted happy over text because she did not want to open up about the ordeal with Taylor! If she didn’t talk about it with her pal, that doesn’t mean she never experienced harm. Unless someone, possibly Taylor’s dad Scott Swift who reportedly leaked the extortion tidbit to Justin’s team, spilled about a text conversation that would show she didn’t tell the truth! Wouldn’t that be wild, huh?!
So, Justin desperately wants those messages in the hopes they will prove he never harassed her, orchestrated a smear campaign, and subsequently caused emotional distress! And he’s getting them! Despite Blake’s efforts to block his access, a judge decided the texts were fair game!
According to documents obtained by Page Six, US District Judge Lewis Liman ruled on Wednesday that the filmmaker can get access to the communications between Taylor and Blake — as long as the texts are related to the film and the case! The judge stated:
“The requests for messages with Swift regarding the film and this action are reasonably tailored to discover information that would prove or disprove Lively’s harassment and retaliation claims.”
Page Six further mentioned Blake’s lawyers tried to compromise with Justin’s attorneys. Her team reportedly said they would give any documents the actor’s lawyers wanted — except for Taylor’s text messages — in exchange for “all video footage related to the film and full, unredacted versions of communication” listed in his complaint. However, his legal team declined.
Whoa!
This is a massive win for Justin! And, of course, a big loss for Blake! Even for Taylor, unfortunately, this is a huge blow as she is now dragged right back into the legal mess! We heard she wanted absolutely nothing to do with her former best friend’s conflict with Justin. But now look at what happened! Oof! She must be furious!
