Justin Bieber‘s assistant left a LONG time ago!
Earlier this week, The US Sun reported that JB’s longtime assistant Mateo Caldas quit recently to pursue his acting career. It was a shocker considering the pop star has really been downsizing his inner circle — including getting rid of bodyguards and unfollowing former friends and team members amid concerning speculation that he’s using hard drugs (which his rep has denied). The timing just seemed alarming.

But according to TMZ, this isn’t the case at all. Mateo was axed YEARS earlier! Sources told the outlet that the Grammy winner fired Mateo five years ago, back in September 2020. That’s just two years after he was reportedly hired. The insiders didn’t clarify why the staffer had to go, but they did claim he was never Justin’s personal assistant. Instead, his sole job was reportedly to oversee Justin’s Los Angeles estate.
Interestingly, Mateo formerly listed himself as being a personal assistant for both Justin and Hailey in the bio of his Instagram (as well as an estate manager), though that has been deleted amid these latest reports. On LinkedIn, he still describes himself as employed by the singer as a personal assistant and estate manager. Hmm.
Regardless, the insiders stressed that any implication that Mateo only recently left the job is “grossly untrue.”
Well, then!
Justin may be reevaluating his small circle, but we guess this firing had nothing to do with it!
