Justin Bieber Reportedly 'Torn Up About His Past' -- But Hoping To 'Channel That Guilt In The Right Way'

Justin Bieber is hoping by speaking out about his struggles in a recently published open letter will be beneficial for not only him, but others going through similar issues.

A religious source close to the artist tells People Hailey Baldwin‘s husband hopes to “channel that guilt in the right way,” after publishing the heavy note via Instagram on Monday.

The insider explained:

“He is torn up about his past. He feels a lot of guilt, because he knows he was a young, stupid kid. But what he’s trying to do — what we’re trying to help him do — is to channel that guilt in the right way.”

Totally understandable! Like so many others before him who saw celebrity status at a young age, it’s hard to adapt to the lifestyles of the rich and famous as a teen.

The confidant continued (below):

“He needs to be open and honest about his past, because it’s a way to heal. He feels like he made these mistakes for a reason, and that he can serve as an example of what not to do.”

Despite all he’s been through, Bieber hopes to “help other people learn from his mistakes” moving forward. As for his message, it took him “a long time” to write out the lengthy post because “he just wanted to get it right.”

The confidant divulged:

“No one told him to post that message. He decided to do it himself. It took him about a week. He did have a couple people look it over before he posted it. He’s not embarrassed about sharing his heart. He’s embarrassed at some of his behavior in the past, but he’s not embarrassed to talk about it if it will help people.”

His post came across well received, with friends and fellow celebrities including Khloé Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, and more commenting words of love and support for the What Do You Mean? singer.

True Thompson‘s momma wrote:

“❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is beautiful!! Thank you!! We are so proud of you!! I needed this! God bless you always ??”

While Cyrus, who’s also been through her fair share of ups and downs over the years, penned:

“Friends from the beginning , here until the end! ? you”
