Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are in the depths of their “first challenge” as a couple.
As the Firework singer faces allegations of graphic sexual assault and misconduct from Ruby Rose, it’s putting the former Canadian Prime Minister in an “awkward position.” On Saturday, a Canadian society source spoke to Page Six about the shocking controversy Katy currently finds herself in and how it’s factoring into her relationship with Justin:
“They’ve really been luxuriating in their relationship over the past few months. They’ve made it no secret that they’re really into each other, but this is really the first challenge they’ve faced since they’ve been together.”
As we’ve been following, Orange Is the New Black actress Ruby Rose recently accused the pop singer of sexually assaulting her at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne years ago. The 40-year-old claimed in a since-deleted post on Threads:
“She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting v****a on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted [sic] on her.”
In the wake of her accusations, Ruby has filed a police report and Katy now faces an investigation by Australian police.
On Saturday, the source told Page Six the whole thing has put Justin in a very “awkward situation.”
“Justin was known as a pro-woman prime minister. He had gender equality in his cabinet, he’s been linked to these kinds of social issues, so this could put a little bit of a dent into their coupledom.”
As the source noted, Justin didn’t shy away from feminist practices while in office, but did face his own controversy in 2018. At the time, a reporter accused him of groping her at a music festival in 2000. Justin apologized, but maintained he never acted inappropriately.
The source concluded:
“Others will try to cut you down. Fame is a double-edged sword. People are now just unafraid to use it against you.”
