We understand loving the royal family and the history that’s involved and getting wrapped up in the magic of it.
But if you spend $4,000 for a slice of their wedding cake so long after the fact… that’s something we’ll NEVER understand! You probably can’t even eat it!
It’s true, a piece of the amazeballz wedding cake that Prince William and Kate Middleton themselves ate at their 2011 wedding has sold at auction for $4,160.
JUST ONE SLICE.
No information about the buyer has been revealed other than the purchase price, which is probably all anyone ever has to know about the buyer ever in the history of everything.
The cake itself was a traditional spiced fruit cake, made by chef Fiona Cairns. Oh, and people are still eating the cake — and we’re not joking.
Kate and William served the top tier, one of three tiers that were preserved, following Prince George‘s christening. That’s right.
Here’s what the chef said about that:
“SUPER GROSS!”
Just kidding! She actually said this:
“We were always told that the cake would be saved for the future so we did assume [it would be served for their firstborn child’s christening]. It’s always been a tradition and that’s why the cake was fruitcake, because after 30 months, it’s even more delicious.”
Thirty. Months.
Oh, and if you think that’s weird: A 66-year-old piece of the wedding cake from when Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip went on sale in July. It sold for 1,200 pounds. We wonder if it was the same buyer?
We like to think they bought both slices, dropped them into a blender, added a Chocolate Slimfast and made a chunky Royal Milkshake of sorts for the hell of it!
