Two time Emmy winner Kathy Griffin has filed a $100,000 lawsuit against some nasty little ‘cybersquatters’.
Said squatters nabbed the ownership rights to KathyGriffin.com and the fiery funnylady doesn’t like that they’re making money off of her name without her permission.
The lawsuit filed said, “The harm to [Griffin] is direct and palpable,” and that the site was purposely designed to make viewers “confused into believing that [Griffin] authorizes, sponsors or somehow is affiliated with the├óΓé¼┬ªwebsite.”
It also went on to say that the squatters have been trading on the reality star’s “good reputation and recognizable name for a commercial purpose├óΓé¼┬ªand reaping the uncompensated benefit from the unauthorized use of [Griffin’s] name and identity.”
The suit also says that the owners of the faux Kathy site had offered to sell the domain name to her back in July for $3,500.
Interesting!
Why didn’t she buy it????
