How did Katy Perry celebrate her 35th birthday?
By taking dozens of lucky participants on a 10-day boat cruise down the Nile!
According to Markus Molinari, jewelry designer and longtime friend of the pop star, Katy Kat “hand picked” 64 people to accompany her for an Egyptian excursion, where they visited ancient sites and — more importantly — got to know each other.
Molinari took to Instagram on Thursday to share pics from the experience, which included shots of the group standing in front of the Great Sphinx of Giza.

While the getaway was undoubtedly a magnificent gift for Katy’s tribe of travel buddies, she also received a gift in return: the gift of each of her companions stepping out of their comfort zones and sitting with someone different for every meal!
The designer explained in the caption:
“How to build a ?powerful bond???? in 10 days. Get 64 people hand picked by a musical ? goddess @KatyPerry to live on a boat ? down the Nile with only ONE ☝?request from from her that each of us step out of our comfort zones and for every meal ? sit with someone different. This would be our birthday gift ? to her. This is my sister. My friend Katy, selfless. Beyond the magnificent gift ? of travel, she gave each of her friends memories of new friendship and a bond that only we will share for the rest of our lives.”

Katy’s bestie went on to gush over her in the caption, continuing:
“I’m beyond grateful ? to the universe ✨for bringing us 2gather ?♀️in this lifetime and look forward to the many memories with you and our extended family we call friends. I said this to you when you first left me to start your radio tour for I kissed a girl ?❤️??and I’ll say it to you always “You are my legs, never leave me” ??Well I will never leave you.? Happy Birthday ? Kittles …. PS I don’t really care about a group shot, I just really care about a solo ?”

Molinari recently proved to be a loyal friend to Katy when the I Kissed A Girl singer was accused of sexual misconduct by the model who played her love interest in the 2010 Teenage Dream music video.
As we reported, model Josh Kloss shared an Instagram post in August claiming the star humiliated him at a party in 2012 when she “pulled [his] Adidas sweats and underwear out as far as she could to show a couple of her guy friends and the crowd around [them], [his] penis.”
Molinari, for his part, hit back at Kloss in a comment on his post, calling the model a lovesick liar. He wrote:
“Remember you texted me saying how you’re in love with her and you wrote her a song? And how soon you’ll be able to flying anywhere to meet her… You were paid for a job like any other job you’ve had but your obsession with Katy has hit another level. Stop lying to yourself and find peace ✌? in your life. Move on.”
Sounds like the type of friend you take to Egypt with you!
As for the other 63 lucky individuals… well, we’re sure they deserved the life-changing trip, too!
