Keira Knightley is reflecting on THAT famous scene from Love Actually!
On Thursday, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sat down with Variety and reminisced on the 2003 Christmas flick, which features the iconic cue card scene no one will ever be able to forget! If you don’t know what we’re talking about, while home with her husband played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in the movie, she hears the doorbell ring. When she checks who it is, it’s Andrew Lincoln’s character with cue cards professing his love for her. Watch the clip (below):
While some may find it cute, Keira remembers thinking it was totally “creepy” at the time!
During her chat with Variety, the 39-year-old explained:
“The slightly stalker-ish aspect of it — I do remember that. My memory is of [director] Richard [Curtis], who is now a very dear friend, of me doing the scene, and him going, ‘No, you’re looking at [Lincoln] like he’s creepy,’ and I’m like, ‘But it is quite creepy.’ And then having to redo it to fix my face to make him seem not creepy.”
HA! Honestly, yeah… Some dude showing up on your doorstep telling you to tell your husband it’s Christmas carolers and then going on to tell you he’ll love you until you look like a mummy… Kinda creepy for sure! LOLz!
Keira went on to remind fans she was just 17 years old at the time she filmed the movie — while Andrew was 30 and Chiwetel was 26:
“I mean, there was a creep factor at the time, right? Also, I knew I was 17. It only seems like a few years ago that everybody else realized I was 17.”
That just adds a whole new layer of creepiness!
Last year, director Richard Curtis admitted the scene is a “bit weird” in retrospect, telling the Independent:
“We didn’t think it was a stalker scene. But if it’s interesting or funny for different reasons [now] then, you know, God bless our progressive world.”
