Keira Knightley Will Work For Free - On Special Occasions!

This is actually pretty cool of her!

Keira Knightley apparently has so much street cred as a period piece film favorite that director Stuart Pearson Wright wanted to use her for his short film, Maze, which involves an Elizabethan courtier lost in a maze trying to find her lover. The problem was, however, that girlfriend doesn’t get that corset on for cheap and he only had a budget of $23,000!

Then the unexpected happened! Keira agreed to shoot the film for free!

Wow! What a generous gesture!

The actress says:

“I loved the idea of doing something that was purely creative, weird and wonderful and not a commercial venture. Ideas were e-mailed and then developed at Stuart’s studio over cupcakes and tea and under the skeleton of his dog and a film piece was decided on: a collision of our worlds.”

We’re not entirely sure what she’s talking about, but good for her! And Wright clearly appreciated her help:

“Part of the reason for me wanting to use an actress like Keira is her association with period dramas. Those associations are important, to lull the audience into a false sense of the familiar. The juxtaposition of a Hollywood actress in period costume with a very contemporary shooting style, being jostled about by a jumpy camera, is an incongruous and uncomfortable one.”

Could be inneresting. Or just artsy fartsy.

The film will be played at one of Wright’s exhibits at the Riflemaker gallery in London if anyone wants to catch it!

Thoughts??
