Keith Urban Says Miley Cyrus 'Sounds Like An Ashtray'!

Keith Urban has quite the opinion on Miley Cyrus’ voice!

The Australian singer appeared on the Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie podcast on Wednesday and sang a snippet of the Hannah Montana alum’s Grammy-winning song Flowers while strumming on his guitar. It sounded pretty great, but what came right after didn’t! Ha!

Asked to speak on “the talent” of Miley, the former American Idol judge gushed:

“I love Miley. I’ve always loved Miley.”

But it definitely didn’t sound like it based on what he said next! He “complimented” her by saying:

“I love the voice, man, that voice, like, she sounds like an ashtray.”

Uhhh, WHAT?!?! Nicole Kidman‘s husband immediately clarified that his comment wasn’t at all intended as a diss on the singer:

“And I mean that as a compliment. I literally mean that as a compliment. I love her.”

That’s certainly an inneresting way to give someone a compliment! Like, he really couldn’t have thought of ANY other way to describe her signature raspy voice?? LOLz! Then again, knowing Miley’s old school country tastes she’s probably over the moon with that comment! Ha!

As of now Miley hasn’t responded… But we’ll just have to wait and see if she does! In the meantime, you can listen to Keith’s full interview (below):
