Staying fit is pretty rewarding in itself, but staying fit for a good cause is always an added bonus!
Former Real Housewives of New York star Kelly Bensimon hit the pavement on Sunday to run in the New York City Half marathon, a 13.1 mile event sponsored by the New York Road Runners.
She finished the race in 2:13:51, a personal best, while raising nearly $10,000 for Generosity Water — a nonprofit dedicated to providing clean water to communities in developing countries.
Since getting involved with the organization in 2010, Kelly has raised over $20,000 and plans on continuing her efforts in the future. After finishing the exhausting run, she told sources:
├óΓé¼┼ôRunning up Seventh Avenue like that ├óΓé¼┬ª oh my God, it was unbelievable. I was videoing people, taking my pictures ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ it was so exciting. Such a cool thing to be a part of. I raised almost ten thousand dollars for Generosity Water. When I like, oh my God, ‘can I make it?’ I thought, ‘I just raised ten thousand dollars for these girls who are walking with 40 pounds of water on their heads ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ I think I can run a little more.’├óΓé¼┬¥
We’re sure those girls appreciate you thinking of them too! Congrats on the great time and keep up the amazing charity work, gurl!
