Kelly Clarkson didn’t feel like she was really married to her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
You know the story by now: the Since U Been Gone singer had a very messy divorce from her talent manager husband after first filing for it back in 2020. The pair was married for seven years and still share two kids — River Rose and Remington Alexander — both of whom Kelly ultimately won primary custody of in the split. They also had some legal issues with spousal support and their infamous ranch home, but everything settled down by 2022, and Brandon was kicked off the ranch for good.

It was such a sad time for fans to watch the American Idol winner go through the big mess, but it was the best decision for her. And on Wednesday, an insider told Page Six that she didn’t even feel like she was in a relationship for the duration of her marriage. Oh, no! The source said:
“As time went on in their marriage, Kelly didn’t feel like she had a partner. Kelly felt single in a lot of ways even while she and Brandon were still married.”
So sad…
The source dished that the Catch My Breath songstress “attended school events for the kids by herself when other parents would attend with both the mom and the dad.” So, when she won primary custody, she was “grateful,” the source explained:
“Kelly was so grateful when she was granted primary custody of her children because they’re her whole world.”
BTW, according to the insider, Kelly is also still very happy with her decision to pack up and move to NYC for The Kelly Clarkson Show:
“Kelly has no regrets since moving to New York, she loves her life there and the kids love it too. She’s so grateful her show was renewed for a seventh season and she’s excited for what’s next.”
Ironically, the show was renewed for its seventh season on the very same day that Brandon celebrated his birthday. Karma, perhaps??
