Kevin Hart is trying to change over here!
The comedian, fresh off his anti-gay joke controversy, is hitting back at the criticism he received for sending Jussie Smollett support after the Empire star was brutally attacked in a possible hate crime this week.
As we reported, the Night School star joined the choir of celebs on Twitter and wrote that the alleged attack was “disgusting” and he feared society was “going backwards.” But given his history with homophobia-laced humor and maybe not fully apologizing for it, Hart’s heartfelt message was met with some snark.

Among the many critics was TV writer Ira Madison III, who replied to Hart’s tweet quipping that it was his “funniest joke yet.”
But Hart wasn’t here for more hate. He defended his tweet and accused his critics of being counter-productive, responding to Madison:
I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my 10yr past that I have apologized about and moved on from by being a better person. Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do…CHANGE! https://t.co/Ybbo8OYKTt

Clearly, he feels attacked.
Since stepping down from hosting the Oscars last month, Hart apologized multiple times for his recently resurfaced homophobic tweets. But some in the LGBT community feel he hasn’t apologized *enough*, and Hart is quite frustrated they haven’t moved on yet.
Madison, to his credit, admitted he was being petty in a follow-up tweet:

It’s not fun being the butt of the joke, is it Kev?
