Khloé Kardashian Credits Kourtney For Helping Turn Her Life Around After Their Father's Death -- 'I Didn't End Up In Rehab Because Kourtney Put Her Foot Down'

Khloe Kardashian
Khloé Kardashian
has a dark past of her own.
In her new book Strong Looks Better Naked, the 31-year-old opens up about turning to booze after the death of her father Robert Kardashian, Sr. in 2003.

The KUWTK reality star has been vocal in the past about the traumatic effect the passing had on her as a teenager, but the new details show that KoKo may be able to relate to Scott Disick, Rob Kardashian, and estranged husband Lamar Odom more than we realized:

“I was 19 at the time, and to say I didn’t handle his death well is an understatement. I didn’t turn to drugs, but I certainly drowned my sorrows in drink, and the partying soon got out of hand. I was underage and behaving recklessly in clubs and at private parties. During this period, I became aware of how easy it is to become a binge drinker├óΓé¼┬ªI see pictures of myself at the time and I was so bloated that I look like I’m 45 years old!”

James Harden‘s girlfriend admits that at the time, she was surrounding herself with the wrong party crowd and pulling away from her family:

“It was pretty much, ├óΓé¼╦£Don’t worry. We can get you into this club.’ Or, ├óΓé¼╦£Here, have one more drink for the road.'”

For someone as highly connected as she was at such a young age, we can imagine it wasn’t too difficult to get mixed up in the Hollywood party scene.
Fortunately, her oldest, “level-headed” sister Kourtney Kardashian stepped in to help her change her partying ways by offering a job at Dash:

“I didn’t end up in rehab├óΓé¼┬ªbecause Kourtney put her foot down and forced me to take control of my life, but I probably came close.”

Wow.
We’re just glad she’s now found other outlets like exercising and journaling to relieve stress!
