Kim Kardashian West is at it again, and just… wow…
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality TV mogul appears on the new cover of 7Hollywood in its most recent biannual issue, and in doing so, Kim is turning a TON of heads — but not exactly for all the right reasons. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Before we dive any deeper into this one, let’s just give you a look at exactly what we’re talking about — you know, so you’re prepared for the controversy that follows. Here she is (below), Kim in all her Manfred Thierry Mugler designed glory for the cover shoot, looking a little, um, not herself:

Along with Kim’s promotion of the new cover shoot, the mag itself also uploaded a ton of content, including some behind-the-scenes stuff which you can watch (below):
They also shared another pic of Kim, more stylistically blurry and in all black-and-white, so tone is tougher to distinguish here:
And they, too, shared the cover shot, informing their audience how Kim had proudly been “Muglerized” in order to shoot the mag cover:
Yeah.
Well, maybe “Muglerized” is but one way to put it…
The commenters descend!
As with pretty much anything Kim does online, the commenters immediately showed up in force. But this time, a LOT of people were seething over how Kim would apparently try to pull off a stunt like this.
One IG commenter wrote (below):
“How does she not understand this is not ok…she has a black husband and kids. Ridiculous.”
Another added:
“I’m very confused why you thought this was okay… you are not a black woman so please stop trying to be one because everyone wants to be black until they start getting treated like it.”
A third pointed to Kim’s alleged history in the blackface realm (or, at least, in “blackfishing” for cash), writing:
“She wants to be black so bad lol ?”
Eeeeeeee.

And yet other people were way less moved by Kim’s noticeably different look, and instead opted for more positive things to say about her on the social network.
One woman noted this:
“At first glance I thought the first pic was your mom! Such a resemblance, her beauty genes run deep!”
Sure, darker skin aside, there is something of a resemblance to Kris Jenner there, ya know?!
Another commenter clapped back at some of the critics, too, writing:
“She isn’t trying to be black because she’s wearing a wig and showing off a natural tan ? y’all soooo mad haha”
Uh huh…
One commenter even looked at another one of Kim’s recent photo shoots — a series of pics the makeup mogul posted to IG earlier on Thursday morning — to figure out whether the media maven had switched it up ahead of the shoot (below):
Noting how dark Kim’s skin looked there, the commenter said:
“Is this blackface here too then? She looks the same colour here. Pretty sure she just has a spray tan! And some contouring on that picture.”
Hmmm…
