Apparently that meeting between Kim Kardashian West and Donald Trump worked!
Kim went to the White House to plead the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother who was sentenced life without parole for drug trafficking.
Lately the POTUS has talked more about pardoning himself — and the last we heard was that it hadn’t actually gone as well as they’d said.

Well, maybe Trump didn’t like that negative press too much, not when the support of Kanye West was on the line (we can’t believe the news we report these days either), because he actually did it!
Trump granted Johnson clemency! After 21 years behind bars, she’ll finally be released!
Kim has already responded to the news on Twitter, writing:

So grateful to @realDonaldTrump, Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson. Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance.

I hope to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition.

And Khloé Kardashian tweeted:
Kimberly you are such a beautiful person inside and out!! I am constantly amazed by your determination! No matter what, you never let anyone else dictate your life! What’s right is right! You did what was right! God bless you @KimKardashian 💜

Johnson was caught facilitating communications in a cocaine trafficking operation, a nonviolent crime, and was sentenced to life without possibility of parole after her co-conspirators testified against her.
Kim met first with Jared Kushner then President Trump after being moved by this viral video from Mic.com:
Now that Johnson’s case has been resolved, Kim tells Mic she is planning to keep pushing for prison reform:
“I think it’s definitely a bigger issue that has to be addressed, and I’m glad that I’m starting with her.”
It’s hard to believe all that worked, but great job, Kim!
