Aside from celebrity status and motherhood, what do Kim Kardashian West and Meghan Markle have in common?

According to Miz Kardashian, at least one more thing! While chatting with Australian TV show The Sunday Project, the reality star opened up about being able to “definitely empathize” with the Duchess of Sussex and her family in regards to the often critical media.

The 39-year-old shared:

“I think everyone has their own journey, and I think their journey is extremely personal with what his mother experienced and how her life was so affected by the spotlight and by paparazzi.”

She added:

“I don’t think anyone can really understand what that’s like except for them, but I think as I’m older and as I have kids and what I would want for them is just the safest place. I can definitely empathize with their need for having a secure, safe place and taking time for themselves and having privacy when they need it.”

The KUWTK star’s interview comes days after another lawsuit was filed by Meg and Prince Harry against the Mail on Sunday and its parent company, Associated Newspapers for allegedly making up “untrue” stories about the 38-year-old to portray her “negatively.” Last month, the Suits alum sued the entities for publishing a private letter to her estranged father.

So what untrue stories is Meg trying to combat now? Per legal documents, they include: using $500,000 in taxpayer dollars to soundproof their family home at Frogmore Cottage from airplane noises; using taxpayer money to install a copper bathtub and design a yoga studio, tennis court, and guest wing; and not inviting the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland to her NYC baby shower.

In an open letter explaining the decision to pursue legal action, Archie Harrison‘s dad (who is also filing a separate lawsuit regarding a years-old case of alleged phone hacking) was candid while explaining the reasoning behind why they have now chosen to make moves:

“This particular legal action hinges on one incident in a long and disturbing pattern of behaviour by British tabloid media. The contents of a private letter were published unlawfully in an intentionally destructive manner to manipulate you, the reader, and further the divisive agenda of the media group in question. In addition to their unlawful publication of this private document, they purposely misled you by strategically omitting select paragraphs, specific sentences, and even singular words to mask the lies they had perpetuated for over a year.”
