Tragedy has an unfortunate way of bringing people together.
Thousands of heartbroken fans gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday to mourn the sudden death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. As we’ve been reporting, the 41-year-old, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria, and seven other victims were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday morning in Calabasas, California.
As fans and celebrities alike continue to pay their respects, one follower, in particular, has gone viral after going public with a touching moment he shared with his local florist as they both mourned the late basketball superstar.

As the story goes, a man named Zach Schwartz was on his way to join the crowds of Los Angeles Lakers fans in mourning but on the way there, he stopped at his local florist to pick up some flowers.
Schwartz explained how the florist’s act of kindness absolutely floored him, writing on Twitter:
“Bought flowers to bring to Staples Center. When the florist saw that I wanted purple and yellow she asked, ‘for Kobe?’ I nodded. When she finished I asked what I owed her, she shook her head, handed me the flowers and said, ‘It’s LA.’ I almost cried.”
He perfectly concluded his tweet by adding:
“LA’s love for Kobe is powerful.”
Indeed, it is. But this heartfelt story gets even better!
The employee who helped Schwartz found his tweet thanking her for the sweet gesture and in a follow-up tweet he asked followers to pay the kindness forward to her in any way they can:

Clearly appreciative of the shoutout, the unnamed florist, who goes by the username @rosiiieey replied:
“You guys this was ME. Had no f**king idea man. I’m speechless.”

Aside from this special tribute for the late basketball player, the city of El Lay is also honoring Kobe by lighting up City Hall in Lakers’ purple and gold.
Alongside a photo of the city monument all lit up, Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted:
“Lights for a legend. Los Angeles City Hall lit in purple and gold starting at 8:24 p.m. this evening in honor of Kobe Bryant’s storied championship career and in memory of Bryant, his daughter, Gianna, and all who perished in today’s tragedy.”

According to reporting from ABC 7, the Wilshire Grand tower in downtown Los Angeles has also changed their lighting to honor Bryant:

Kobe is survived by his wife Vanessa Bryant and his other three daughters, 17-year-old Natalia, 3-year-old Bianka, and a 7-month-old baby girl, Capri.
