Kristin Cavallari is opening up about a high-profile, short-lived relationship — and how it changed everything for her.
On Tuesday’s episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, the Laguna Beach alum reacted to several headlines she’s made over the years. We’ve heard all about her hookups with Scott Disick… and the recent fallout. But this time she’s talking about her relationship with none other than Nick Lachey.

KCav dated the 98 Degrees frontman for a short while after he divorced Jessica Simpson in 2006, which left Kristin in the media as his first public romance since the split:
“This was a wild time in my life, because I was, overnight, on the cover of every tabloid. I had so many paparazzi following my every move, waiting outside of my house. It was, whoa, it was wild. It was a lot … [Nick] had just gotten a divorce from Jessica Simpson. So this was, like, the biggest thing in 2006. It was a wild ride.”
Being suddenly thrown into the tabloid spotlight overnight definitely would’ve been a wild ride!
Annoyingly she was also following a very famous ex. The 37-year-old said she started getting compared to Jessica because of their recent divorce — and was accused of “stealing” the designer’s red carpet poses:
“There [are] like four f**kng poses you can do on a red carpet, like, my hand on my hip? You think I’m stealing her poses? Like, what?”
Her grievances didn’t stop there, though. The Hills star said she lost “trust” in some people — the short-lived relationship brought her first experience of “betrayal” when her friend sold a picture of the couple to paparazzi:
“This was when I really started to kind of lose trust in some people. I was out one night with my friend, and Nick was there, and we were all sitting together. We were at a club. [She] acted like she was taking a photo of just me and her, right. Nick is in it next to me, but he’s not looking at the camera because everyone thought it was a picture of me and [my friend], but Nick is actually in it a little bit.”
The Uncommon James founder claimed her now ex-friend “sold this picture for $2,500”. Wild! And absolutely a betrayal of trust!
And Kristin acknowledged that. She called the incident “so f**ked up”:
“That was the kind of first real sense of betrayal that I felt of, like, ‘Oh, wow. I’m not even safe with my people I think are my friends.’ … That was my introduction to just shadiness.”

The TV personality and the singer ended up calling it quits after dating on-and-off for nearly a year. Despite the short relationship, it’s clear she learned a lot from the experience of being just a little bit more in the spotlight.
