Kylie Jenner Is Accused Of Cultural Appropriation... Again...

Kylie Jenner cultural appropriatoin accusations

New year, same Kylie?

Some things never change: it’s a day that ends in ‘y’ and Kylie Jenner has once again been accused of cultural appropriation. Heck, 2020 is barely even three days old!

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality TV star is taking a lot of heat on Instagram and Twitter right now, after an old photoshoot pic surfaced which has fans calling her out for cultural appropriation.

The pic, first posted by her makeup artist on the shoot (below), is apparently said to have been inspired by Gwen Stefani‘s old “Harajuku Girls” look from 2004:

Wow!

Initially, the 22-year-old hot momma herself had re-posted the old photoshoot pic to her own IG account, but very quickly she deleted it with no reasoning given.

Instead, she chose to post it on her IG Stories on Thursday afternoon, where it’d be available for just 24 hours.

Interesting behavior…

If it was to avoid negative social media comments, though, Kylie sure missed the mark. As it was, hundreds of followers and fans piled on, accusing the billionaire business mogul of rampant cultural appropriation.

“Wow, love this on a woman who’s white, dedicated to another white woman,” one IG commenter wrote underneath the makeup artist’s post, shading pop music of the late 90s for its rampant theft of hip-hop influences. “Celebrating the biggest era of cultural appropriation in modern pop history.”

Another commenter noted the date — and referenced the repeated cultural appropriation accusations that have come down on the KarJenner fam — when writing:

“Why do y’all keep thinkin s**t like this is a good idea in the year 2020”

Another commenter added more:

“Black girls still get fired and sent home from school for wearing their hair like this, and it’s actually a type of style (braids, twists, etc.) that is essential to the health of black hair, but sure, for her it’s ‘just a hairstyle.'”

Wow! Well said…

Still, others disagreed that there was any appropriating going on here — and they weren’t shy to voice their opinions in the comment section, either.

One wrote (below):

“You know I am absolutely sick of people being so damn sensitive. If an African American woman wears a wig that is blonde or straight or anything other than her natural hair she is NOT accused of this. Yet a white woman wears f**king braids and is shamed? And then the same people who shame her want racial equality when they are the first to pick it out? Ok.”

And another added:

“So a white woman is not allowed to wear braids??? OK…. got it. So should I get totally pissed off when I see a black woman with blond hair??? Why can’t we just allow people to wear what ever the f**k they want and stop with all this bulls**t???”

Well then!

What do U think about it, Perezcious readers?! Is Kylie guilty of cultural appropriation here or not? Where do you stand on how often the KarJenner fam comes up in this discussion??
