Kylie Jenner is back to being her old self. …and her new self, too!
The 27-year-old fashion biz mogul has been through so much in her twenties. Of course, she’s gone through two pregnancies in the last seven years, producing her amazing daughter Stormi and her wonderful son Aire. She’s also developed brands including Kylie Cosmetics, her fashion brand Khy, and her newly-released alcohol company Sprinter. Oh, and she’s also seen her personal style evolve again, and again, and again!

That last little tidbit was the focus of this month’s cover story over at Elle. There, Kylie is front-and-center, both posing for a super-sexy photo shoot AND sitting down for a wide-ranging interview! And it’s the interview that has us surprised, because she is saying goodbye to a legendary old version of herself that’ll never return!
To start, when it comes to her personal style, the mom of two explained:
“I’ve definitely had some moments of quiet luxury, as they would say, but I’m always experimenting. At the root of my authentic style, I think I’m more dark feminine.”
That “dark feminine” style has evolved over a lot of personal growth and development. Kylie’s two pregnancies over the last few years and her journey into motherhood have helped, too. And in fact, part of that journey involved her actually LOSING her personal style along the way! Seriously!
Kylie explained how pregnancy radically affected her personal through-line when it came to fashion sense:
“The first part of my twenties was having children, learning what my personal style was and then losing it — not knowing how to dress, gaining 60 pounds for both pregnancies.”
But now she’s back to her old self! Well, to her new and updated self, more like. She optimistically stated:
“It took me a year to feel like myself again. At 27, I feel more confident and more like myself than ever.”
Love it!!
There’s just one thing she’s definitely leaving in the past: King Kylie!! You know that aesthetic, Perezcious readers — the one that includes those cotton candy pinks and bright teal hair colors! Heck, Kylie just (briefly) brought it back last month in a bit of a throwback over on Instagram. But now that vibe is over and done with!!
According to Kylie herself in the Elle profile, the King Kylie arc will never again be coming out to play like when she was younger:
“That era will always be a part of who I am, but it’ll never be what it was when I was younger. I probably would never wear lash extensions and thick eyebrows [now]. There are just certain trends that I’ve grown out of.”
Still, she was quick to note the importance of giving herself “grace” for the choices she made as a younger woman. That includes everything from so-called King Kylie stylistic moves to getting a breast augmentation as a teenager. Kylie concluded:
“I have to give my younger self grace. I don’t like to have too many regrets in life. I think my path is what got me here today. I’m happy with where I am and just have to keep moving forward.”
