Sometimes the long relationships are the hardest to endure (especially with a cheater) — and that’s why Nike is dropping Livestrong like a sack of potatoes!
Lance Armstrong hasn’t been making new friends, and it looks like even things he touches can’t seem to keep ones that have been around for almost a decade! NINE YEARS the relationship between Nike and Livestrong has gone on, and it’s now gone!
Officials have said that Livestrong is ├óΓé¼┼ôdeeply grateful├óΓé¼┬¥ to Nike, which helped raise $100 million for the organization. Here’s more of what they said:
“Together, we created new, revolutionary ways of thinking about how non-profits fuel their mission and we’re proud of that…This news will prompt some to jump to negative conclusions about the foundation’s future. We see things quite differently. We expected and planned for changes like this and are therefore in a good position to adjust swiftly and move forward with our patient-focused work.”
Livestrong HAS done some amazing things for cancer and cancer research, regardless of who they’ve shared their bed with. It’s sad to see them lose such a major partner — and we honestly can’t see how they’re going to be okay with it, even if they say they’re seeing things differently.
Luckily, we’re hearing that they’re still healthy financially, saying they’re already 2.5 percent ahead of revenue projections for 2013 despite reducing its budget nearly 11 percent to $38.4 million. That’s good!
Lance, on the other hand, has yet another reason to be ashamed of what he’s done.
