Current TV journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee returned home last month after 140 days of imprisonment in North Korea, and now the journalists are sharing their brave story!

Ling and Lee have written a detailed account of their time in North Korea for the Current TV website, revealing exactly how their capture and arrest went down.

The journalists crossed the North Korean border in the company of a “trusted tour guide” on March 17th, but both Ling and Lee realized the extremely dangerous situation they had put themselves in. The two tried to cross the border back into China, but it was too late.

Even though the two crossed the Chinese border, North Korean guards sprinted into China and dragged Laura and Euna back into North Korea.

Ling and Lee write:

“We were firmly back inside China when the soldiers apprehended us. Producer Mitch Koss and our guide were both able to outrun the border guards. We were not. We tried with all our might to cling to bushes, ground, anything that would keep us on Chinese soil, but we were no match for the determined soldiers. They violently dragged us back across the ice to North Korea and marched us to a nearby army base, where we were detained.”

Wow.
