Lawrence Taylor paid money to have sex with an underage girl.
Not only did he get six years probation and have to register as a sex offender (no jail time, though), but he’s now being sued by his victim.
She’s taking a stand for those who are subjected to sex trafficking.
A little background: Taylor paid $300 to Cristina Fierro for sex in 2010. The pimp that forced her to do it also got caught (getting 7 years in prison).
Now, Taylor is being sued under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act — and it’ll be the first time a “buyer” has been sued under it in addition to the pimp.
Here’s what Gloria Allred had to say:
“I believe that buyers should have the same penalty as the pimp. No girl deserves to be taken advantage of and I hope to be the voice of girls and young women out there who have been sexually exploited as a result of sex trafficking. Suing the buyer can have an impact on the demand for commercial sex of children. If buyers know that they may be liable for significant … damages for the physical and emotional suffering that they cause a child it may make them think twice before they engage in this reprehensible criminal act and civil wrong.”
AGREED!
We think this def has the chance to scare off a lot of potential buyers, and hopefully save some girls from the kind of situation and pain that Cristina went through! Not only that, but maybe others could come forward with courage to sue their attackers as well!
