The Tonight Show with Jay Leno will finish the same way it started.
Jay’s final guest will be Billy Crystal, who was the first person to sit down on the couch when Leno took over in 1992.
Garth Brooks is also scheduled to be the final musical guest on the show. We’re assuming he’ll be singing If Tomorrow Never Comes to try and bring the waterworks after Jay’s impressive 24 years as host of the NBC late night show.
Tonight’s King-in-waiting also announced who his FIRST guests will be! Jimmy Fallon will welcome Will Smith and U2 to usher in the new era of the show!
Sweet!
This will also mark the first time in 42 years that the Tonight Show will be broadcast from New York, a move that Jimmy was especially fond of. Fallon explained why he wanted to bring the show back to the east coast, saying:
├óΓé¼┼ôFor me it wasn’t a real option [to move to LA]. I was born and raised in New York. I live there with my wife and we have a little 6 month baby. When I talked to NBC I said we should bring it back. It’s been out here for 40 something years. Why not bring it back to NY? What’s the worst that could happen? When I think of New York, I think of nighttime. Night life and the excitement and the glitz and glamour. Booking wise, we’ve never had problems. We had the president of the United States.├óΓé¼┬¥
And we’re sure the Prez will be back for an appearance once Jimmy takes over as well!
We’re excited!!!
Congratz at an AH-Mazing run, Jay! And good luck with your new gig, Jim!
