UPDATE 1:18 P.M. EST: TMZ reports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has now taken over the case as it has the most sophisticated cyber-crime unit in the country, and Leslie supposedly has history with the Department stemming from a previous catfishing investigation. Some sources say the current hacker may be connected to a group in Japan.
Who ya gonna call? The FBI!
On Thursday, it was revealed that the FBI will be handling Leslie Jones‘ hacking case after hackers violated her private information by breaking into the actress’ iCloud and cell phone. To make matters worse, the cyber stalker then posted nude photos of the 48-year-old on her website. Oof!

According to TMZ, federal agents are currently pulling together a strategy to track down the person (or people) who are responsible for violating the Ghostbusters star’s privacy. Currently, it’s unknown if the FBI’s west coast or east coast offices are heading the case as the Saturday Night Live vet lives in both NYC and El Lay.
Don’t fret though, as it’s said this hunt is specifically a FBI investigation as neither the NYPD or LAPD have open cases about the hacking. We honestly feel so bad for Miz Jones, especially since this isn’t the first time the funny lady’s been targeted online.
Thankfully, many of Leslie’s peers have since come to her defense on Twitter over this sad situation — including Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, Octavia Spencer, Lena Dunham, and many more.
Be sure to take a look at their reactions for yourself (below)!

I truly don’t know why people are so hateful towards @Lesdoggg. Why? She’s talented and wonderful. Why are people so pressed to be awful?
