Yeah…. about that posthumous single from Liam Payne… It’s not happening anymore!
In case you missed it, producer Sam Pounds announced on Monday that he was dropping a track he worked on with the One Direction alum on Friday called Do No Wrong — less than three weeks after he tragically jumped from the fourth-story balcony of his Buenos Aires hotel. The Just Pretend artist hoped the song would be a “blessing” and comfort to Liam’s fans and family during this difficult time — and some did love the idea! However, not everyone was on board! Many thought it was very “insensitive” and way “too soon.”

Well, Sam heard fans out… And he has changed his mind. Yep, he’s not releasing the track! In fact, we may NEVER get to hear it in its entirety! He’s leaving it up to Liam’s family to decide now when or if the song will come out. The music producer wrote on social media Tuesday:
“Today I’m deciding to hold ‘ Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire). Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are all still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to morn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait. With love Sam Pounds.”
Wow…
He added in the caption on the Instagram post, which included text messages and voice notes with Liam about the song:
“We Will Wait. Let’s all take our time. We love you Liam. The family as a whole comes first. Let’s wait. Love & Blessings”
It’s admirable Sam decided to wait to release the single until Liam’s grieving loved ones are ready. However, fans should prepare themselves. We could be waiting a long time for the song — like forever! It may never see the light of day if that is what the 31-year-old singer’s family decides! Oof. Of course, there is always the possibility Sam chooses not to respect their wishes one day and release it anyway. He would come across as a real jerk afterward, though! No matter how much we want to hear the music Liam worked on before his death, we really hope Sam will not go down that route.
Unless the family gives him the green light, everyone will just have to be satisfied with the teaser Sam shared. Listen (below):
