Liam Payne's Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Breaks Down Crying In First TV Interview After His Death

Our heart is broken for Kate Cassidy.

The model has slowly been making a return to the public eye after the tragic loss of her boyfriend, Liam Payne. On Tuesday she made an appearance on the ITV talk show Lorraine. In her first television interview since the One Direction member passed, she gave everyone an update on how she’s doing.

While speaking to host Lorraine Kelly, the 25-year-old confessed she hasn’t been able to move forward much — because she still treats Liam as if he’s alive:

“I find myself talking about him so much in the present tense. I don’t feel the need to correct myself. That’s part of my healing journey: I’m still working on accepting that he’s not here anymore. It almost stings that little bit more. It feels more official.”

So, so sad… Poor Kate started to choke up just talking about it… and let a few tears fall as she continued:

“It’s really hard to accept. I never thought I would be talking about him in the past tense.”

Of course she didn’t. He was SO young! Luckily the influencer has a strong support system, though. She revealed her family and friends have been taking good care of her:

“I am trying to do my best. I have my better days, my harder days but I am surrounded by such a great support system and that has helped me so much with my healing journey, all my friends and family being supportive and helping me be productive. Doing small things like yoga, going for a long walk, anything like that.”

It’s great to hear she’s taking care of herself amid all the grief. It’s never an easy thing to do — even more so for Kate, because she made the gut-wrenching confession this is her first experience losing a loved one at all:

“It is really hard. I’ve never lost anyone close to me before so this is my first time going through this grief and healing journey.”

The way the world loved Liam offers a great deal of comfort to her, though:

“He has impacted so many people in this world and I know I’m not alone in this, so many other people are grieving. It shows how much of an impact he had on people’s lives. He would light up any room he walked into and he had this sense of humor where he could make anything better and his presence was just comforting and warming and that is something I will never forget about him, ever.”

We’re sending love and light to Kate as she navigates this. May she find peace amongst the tragedy.
