Oh No! Lizzo Is Being Accused Of Stealing THAT Lyric On 'Truth Hurts'

Lizzo accused plagiarism THAT song lyric...

Fresh off her triumphant performance at the MTV VMAs in New Jersey just a week ago, Lizzo is now dealing with some very unwanted publicity.

A UK artist known as Mina Lioness is now accusing the Truth Hurts performer allegedly swiping THAT line from that song on her way to the top. That’s right… when Lizzo sings “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that bitch,” that line may have allegedly been stolen word-for-word from Lioness’ work! Yikes!!!

According to World IP Review looking over the intellectual property of it all, Lioness has long accused Lizzo of stealing the line, though it’s recently come to light because the popular singer’s business ventures have apparently applied to register the trademark covering “100% That Bitch” for both merchandise and music.

Surprised by that move, to say the least, Mina Lioness has decided enough is enough — but she doesn’t have the resources to take Lizzo to court to contest all of the allegations of plagiarism right now.

According to ONTD, the UK musician is quoted as speaking about the whole situation (below):

“What I cannot get over is how brazen Lizzo and her team have been in ignoring my whole presence. They’re doing it because they know I have no capital to address her. Now everyone believes those were your words, when in fact they were mine. My creativity, my wit and my comedy.”

Wow!!!

Lioness has also called on Lizzo to “do the right thing” and credit her as a co-writer of the song, though so far that hasn’t happened. (Besides, if Lizzo did acknowledge it as so, Lioness would automatically get a cut of everything sold under the trademark — something Lizzo’s business associates likely want to avoid, to say the least.)

Like we’ve noted, though, this is far from the first time Lioness has spoken up about Lizzo stealing the phrase from her.

As you can see (below), Lioness’ original tweet goes all the way back to very early 2017:

Wow!!!

Now, Lizzo has said publicly that the lyrics were inspired by a meme she saw at one point on social media, but still didn’t give Lioness any credit for it.

No matter for the UK artist here, because she’s stayed on it well into 2019, as you can see (below) — and it was all kicked off and inspired apparently by a series of earlier Demi Lovato tweets:

Whoa!

Drama, drama, drama!

What do y’all think about this, Perezcious readers?? Should Lizzo give credit where credit is due here, or is it not a case of plagiarism and just a bizarre coincidence??
