Lizzo Wants Y'all To Stop Calling Her 'Brave' For Being Confident About Her Body: 'I'm Just Sexy'!

Lizzo sounds off on body positivity double standards.

Lizzo does NOT want you calling her “brave” just because she’s thick and proud of it!

In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, the Juice singer opened up about how she’s sick of people oohing and ahhing at her body confidence. Venting about her frustrations over the double standard she sees in Hollywood and the beauty industry, she explained:

“When people look at my body and be like, ‘Oh my God, she’s so brave,’ it’s like, ‘No, I’m not.’ I’m just fine. I’m just me. I’m just sexy.”

She’s sexy and she’s over it — it being the public’s over-congratulatory reaction to seeing a bigger woman, like Lizzo, feeling herself.

Explaining how she gets called “brave” for doing the same things thinner women do everyday, the 31-year-old said:

“If you saw Anne Hathaway in a bikini on a billboard, you wouldn’t call her brave. I just think there’s a double standard when it comes to women.”

It’s true!

And this truth very much hurts the VMA-nominee, who wants people to stop being so shocked by the fact she sees herself as beautiful.

Liz added:

“I don’t like it when people think it’s hard for me to see myself as beautiful. I don’t like it when people are shocked that I’m doing it.”

The artist blames it on the modeling and beauty industries for limiting what was considered “beautiful” for decades, but noted how social media has helped change this perception over the past few years.

She mused:

“Back in the day, all you really had were the modeling agencies. I think that’s why it made everything so limited for what was considered beautiful. It was controlled from this one space. But now we have the internet. So if you want to see somebody who’s beautiful who looks like you, go on the internet and just type something in. Type in ‘blue hair.’ Type in ‘thick thighs.‘ Type in ‘back fat.‘ You’ll find yourself reflected. That’s what I did to help find the beauty in myself.”

It’s also how others found the beauty in Lizzo — like the good folks at Absolut Vodka!

As the star explained, the company asked her to be the face of their latest campaign thanks to what they saw on her sexy, juicy Instagram page. She dished:

“The creative had the big girls in it. It was juicy, like me, and fun, like me. For someone like me to get a campaign with Absolut and to be wearing a bikini and to be jumping around and dancing and having fun — Absolut saw me on Instagram, saw how I like to dress, saw how I liked to party with my girls, and they came up with that creative.”

Looking ahead, the flautist hopes more space can be made for other “fearless” women of different sizes. She said:

“Make space for me. Make space for this generation of artists who are really fearless in self-love. They’re out here. They want to be free. I think allowing that space to be made is really what’s going to shift the narrative in the future. Let’s stop talking about it and make more space for people who are about it.”

Ya-ya-preach!
