President Obama has a fee to pay in London and they’re serious about him paying up.
The President’s motorcade has been fined for not paying a congestion charge in London.
Apparently Mayor Boris Johnson wants Obama to pay a $16 congestion charge involving his security vehicle “The Beast” as well as other cars in his motorcade.
According to Johnson:
“Our roads were not closed during the President’s visit so his motorcade will pay. ‘The Beast’ will pay the charge, I’m delighted to say. We didn’t charge the pope when he was here because all the roads were closed, so the popemobile was exempt. But this was different.”
And since the US didn’t pay up in time, they now face a $200 fine.
But the US isn├óΓé¼Γäót buying it with The American Embassy stating they were ├óΓé¼┼ôwholly in accordance” with the 1960 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations treaty which apparently “prohibits the imposition of this sort of tax on diplomatic missions.”
