This season of Love Is Blind had one of the most jaw-dropping wedding takedowns we have seen in the history of the show — and it’s all thanks to Ashley Carpenter. When it came time for her fiancé, Alex Henderson, to say “I do” (or more like “I don’t” in this case), she took back the power and ended the relationship first.
In a jaw-dropping speech, Ashley called him out for everything from the lack of intimacy and effort to “lying” about his life and having no “integrity” before delivering a perfect mic drop moment. She said before walking away from the altar:
“Saying no to you today is a win.”

Now, Ashley and Alex are speaking out about their wedding day, sharing behind-the-scenes secrets of their breakup, and revealing the reason why they didn’t want to marry each other! Y’all won’t believe what that man had to say on the latter, though!
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum on Wednesday, Alex revealed that he and Ashley basically split off-camera the day before the wedding! Whoa! They still decided to head down the altar to make the final decision on their relationship, and Alex thought it would be a civil ordeal! However, we all know now that Ashley had other plans! He recalled:
“So what people don’t know is that I had a conversation with Ashley off-camera the day before the wedding. I was [like], ‘Hey, we didn’t get there, but I thank you for being my partner through this.’ I really didn’t want her to get blindsided. It was a quick conversation — met with an ‘Okay, I respect that’ from her — and that was that. I was going into the ceremony thinking we were going to politely just be like, ‘Hey, it wasn’t it.'”
For her part, Ashley explained she wanted to reach the end of the experiment for herself — no matter how Alex felt:
“I needed to see this all the way through, not only [for] the experiment, but for myself. My dad always says the best thing he ever taught his kids is how to make a decision. I’m a fighter, so if I have an argument with the person that I love, I’m going to fight through that — I’m not just going to run and hide and ghost him. I’m going to give him the opportunity to show me that he can be the man I deserve.”
He didn’t in the end, so she slammed him in front of their family and friends! Alex said he was shocked when he came for his integrity:
“When she came at my integrity, that was unexpected. I was very proud of myself for not responding negatively because it was a highly emotional moment. I absorbed the hit and let it go.”
According to Ashley, that moment wasn’t only for her but also to show other women how much “strength” they have:
“I hope people see that and realize you have the strength, and you have the power to say no to something that you don’t deserve even on your wedding day.”
And to this day, she still doesn’t have great things to say about Alex — other than he is a good-looking guy. Ashley said:
“He is a good-looking person, I can give him that. Looks aside, I need so much more from a partner, so I chose myself. I deserve something so much more extraordinary, and that wasn’t it. That was subpar at best.”
Damn!
Ashley went on to stress that she just needed “more” from Alex, and they ultimately weren’t on the same path in life:
“It was just two people, two very, very different lives, and it just didn’t work. At the end of the day, there were just some nonnegotiables for both of us, whether it was his lying or it was my hair color. I’m not everybody’s cup of tea. I know that, and I’m just looking for something more.”
Meanwhile, Alex thought they had a deep emotional connection, but he wasn’t attracted to her physically:
“I hate this answer, but it’s honest. It’s the physical. [She] was not the type of woman that I wanted physically, and I couldn’t get past that. I hate saying it, but it’s true.”
Sorry, what?! Does this man have eyes?! She is STUNNING! Plenty of people can have a type and still make exceptions when you’ve got a 10/10 right next to you!

What is with these men on Love Is Blind? They get a beautiful woman and dare to bash her looks! They are lucky any of these women even gave them the time of day! And if Alex is so picky about what type of woman he wants physically, he shouldn’t have gone on a show like Love Is Blind! There’s a thought! Isn’t that the whole point of the show? To follow your heart no matter what the physical is? Why did he even sign up then? Was he trying to outgrow that side of him and just couldn’t?
While Alex is looking for a specific look from a woman, Ashley wants something deeper, something that goes beyond appearance. She told Tudum she hopes to find a partner who is “a little bit more ambitious and driven,” adding:
“Someone who wants a career, stability, and a family. When we were in the pods, those things were painted for me beautifully, and that’s why I connected so strongly with Alex. We had similar dreams. Our futures were very much aligned as far as where we wanted to live and settle down and plant roots. Now it’s wild. I see he did not want to settle down at all, and he was just telling me those things.”
