Love Is Blind has riled up the conservatives!! We’ve seen a lot of drama come from this show, but nothing like this!
During the latest season, Sara Carton and Ben Mezzenga fell in love in the pods, although they weren’t aligned on all political views. Specifically, Sara questioned Ben about the Black Lives Matter movement and gay rights.
She became more politically involved after George Floyd‘s 2020 death — which happened in their home city of Minneapolis — and President Donald Trump‘s first term. Ben, however, said he was “ignorant towards that stuff” and “didn’t vote in the last election.” However, he insisted he had “no discomfort around [the LGBTQ+] community at all,” something that was important to Sara considering her sister is gay. But despite getting engaged, they could never get over these differing viewpoints, and Sara ultimately walked away at the altar!

During Friday’s episode, the reality star told her husband-to-be at their wedding:
“I love you so much, but I’ve always wanted a partner to be on the same wavelength, and so today, I can’t [marry you].”
She later told cameras that a big part of her decision was the fact Ben was unwilling to show curiosity or even have conversations about these important topics. She was also off-put by a sermon from his church that she watched which showed they had a “traditional” stance on LGBTQ matters, something he claimed he didn’t know.
Not to mention, during the season a TikToker who used to date Ben put him on blast, claiming he mistreated women. Sara also discovered Ben’s pattern of leaving business cards promoting his YouTube channel with women after hooking up. Plus, she told People she learned Ben moved to California because he wanted to be an actor, something she brushed off at the time. Now, though, she realizes there were WAY too many red flags!
But…
After leaving him at the altar, Sara revealed in Sunday’s reunion that she actually tried to work things out with Ben and that he planned to live with her in Nashville for a bit. Hard to see why she thought that was a good idea — maybe she thought she could change him??
Either way, it backfired because he suddenly ghosted her — right after she left for Nashville with the assumption he was going to follow soon after! She told EW:
“He removed me from Find My Friends, and I didn’t hear much from him. I was very confused. It was out of nowhere. I was shocked. That’s when I had the most clarity of who Ben was.”
She eventually received some “pretty scripted apologies” before he completely ghosted her. Dramatic!
The craziest part, though?? All this mess has got conservatives furious online! Enraged by the failed engagement due to politics, conservatives on X (Twitter) reacted:
“Love is Blind Sara Carton making a political statement instead of trying to find her person. This guy missed a bullet with her.”
“Sara from Love Is Blind is everything that is wrong with society today. Her family is absolutely venomous”
“Liberal brain rot caused this woman to walk away from a man she loved because he wouldn’t bend the knee. He dodged a bullet!”
“This man just avoided a life of misery. Congrats.”
The heated comments continued on Sara’s Instagram, with users leaving messages like:
“You’re the red flag”
“You were the one who wasn’t respectful to his views.”
“It’s always the diversity and inclusion people who have no idea how to practice it. Yikes!”
“You was looking for someone to join your cult rather than a life partner”
OMG!
She really hit a nerve! Y’all know this is a TV show, right? Cause damn! They’re upset!!! Let the girl live her life — this clearly wasn’t going to be a good match for either of them!
