Maddox Jolie-Pitt Breaks Silence On Strained Relationship With Brad Pitt

Maddox Jolie-Pitt is speaking out for the first time about his relationship with estranged dad Brad Pitt.

In a video interview (watch it HERE) obtained by In Touch, Angelina Jolie‘s son gave a brief update on their strained relationship, and it doesn’t seem like time has healed any wounds.

When asked if he thinks the 55-year-old will visit him at Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea, Maddox replied:

“Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening.”

The college freshman also commented on whether or not he believes their relationship can be salvaged:

“Whatever happens, happens.”

The two have had a difficult time since Brangelina called it quits in 2016 — even getting into a fight on a plane — and it seems things haven’t gotten any better recently. Per an Us Weekly source, Maddox “is very close with Angie,” and “doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son.” Ouch!!

The eldest of the six Jolie-Pitt’s was adopted by the Maleficent star from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002, and was later adopted by the Fight Club actor in 2006.

According to a source in December, Maddox and brother Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt both “refused” to see his dad on Christmas Day, an insider shared at the time:

“Brad exchanged Christmas gifts with the kids on December 25 at his house… [He] has never spoiled the kids for their birthdays or holidays. It wasn’t over the top but low-key. Maddox refused to go, and Pax didn’t go either. [Maddox and Pax] spend more time with their friends and are busy doing their own thing. They spend less time than they used to with the younger kids and the family.”

Even though a LOT has transpired between the former couple in the past few years, and Brad has dealt with his own sobriety struggles, the Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood actor still hopes their relationship will get better over time, a source shared with Us Weekly:

“Brad’s hopeful that as his son gets older, they’ll become close again.”

As we previously reported, since dropping off her son in South Korea recently (see the photos HERE) sans Brad, the 44-year-old revealed she has a refreshed perspective on parenting:

“When your children are little you feel more ‘mommy’. When they are teenagers you start to remember yourself as a teenager. You see them going to punk clubs and you wonder why you can’t go. I’m in this fun moment where I’m rediscovering myself.”

In Maddox’s words “whatever happens, happens,” but we hope the father and son will find their way back to each other!!
