Margaret Thatcher was a polarizing figure, and people STILL either love her or hate her even after she’s passed. She did help pave the way for women in politics, though!
On the flip side, there are people that can never forget that she was called The Iron Lady for a reason. If we made a list of those people, we’d be willing to bet that singer Morrissey would add his own name RIGHT AT THE TOP!
Morrissey just put the former Prime Minister on blast, calling her barbaric! Here’s what he said:
“Thatcher is remembered as The Iron Lady only because she possessed completely negative traits such as persistent stubbornness and a determined refusal to listen to others. Every move she made was charged by negativity; she destroyed the British manufacturing industry, she hated the miners, she hated the arts, she hated the Irish Freedom Fighters and allowed them to die, she hated the English poor and did nothing at all to help them, she hated Greenpeace and environmental protectionists, she was the only European political leader who opposed a ban on the ivory trade, she had no wit and no warmth and even her own cabinet booted her out.”
DAYUM — the scope of that hatred is wiiiiiiide!
He continued:
“[She will] only be fondly remembered by sentimentalists. As a matter of recorded fact, Thatcher was a terror without an atom of humanity.”
That’s brutal, no matter where you fall on the like or dislike line. We will say one thing: Morrissey is not without passion. He gives 110% to everything he believes!
Oh, and we should mention that Judy Garland’s Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead has climbed back onto the charts since the news of her death! Pretty disrespectful, but the fact is interesting anyway!
