No, this isn’t a gritty version of those silly Steve Martin detective movies…but it’s probs almost time for them to reboot THAT franchise as well! LOLz.
Marvel Studios has begun development on their new film Black Panther. The story revolves around a “king of a resource-rich fictional African country who becomes a super hero.”
For those of you out there who aren’t up on your obscure-comic-book-character knowledge, the Black Panther first arrived in a 1966 Fantastic Four comic, and is renowned for being the “first black hero in mainstream comics.”
Apparently, Columbia took a shot at a Black Panther movie in the early ’90s with Wesley Snipes, but things didn’t work out for the film or for Wesley.
Should be an inneresting project, especially because the writer, Mark Bailey, is known for his writing credits on documentaries including Pandemic: Facing AIDS and Ghosts of Abu Ghraib.
We’re not sure exactly what to expect with this one, but our curiosity has been piqued.
