Yesterday, it was announced that Mary Hart, after almost 30 years with the show, will be parting ways with Entertainment Tonight. There have been rumblings that Mary was gently pushed out the door to make room for Lara Spencer to take over, but now we think the issue was more about money than it was recasting.
Sources are reporting that Mary was raking in a salary of five million dollars last year from ET! A bit much if you ask us!
Seems her hefty paycheck may be what did the studios in with her, so they drew up a new contract with Mary to finish out one last season.
What is interesting to us is that insiders reveal that for this final season, Mary accepted a significant pay reduction – a 50% paycut!
Whoa! That’s pretty steep! If she was willing to take that much less money, why get rid of her???
