Ben Affleck‘s love life is CRAZY! Bouncing back and forth between Jennifers like some kind of indecisive pinball? With the occasional showmance with a rising star or toe-dip into Raya? It’s a clusterf**k.
You know what’s solid? And always will be? His relationship with the true love of his life: Matthew Emily Damon. (We didn’t actually look up Matt Damon’s middle name. But Emily is a strong one, right??)
Ben & Matt (TM) reunited once again over the weekend as Ben’s latest film, The Accountant 2, premiered at SXSW. Look at the two of them sharing a moment on the red carpet!

People asked Ben on the red carpet what makes their friendship so special, and he said it’s really about putting the effort in on one, maybe a couple people in your life:
“It’s a beautiful thing. You know, I don’t have very many — none of us really have very many friends. You don’t need a million friends. You need a few good ones. And I’m really lucky to have had a friend in Matt. … I’m lucky to have friends like that in my life.”
The Accountant 2 is getting good reviews, it sounds like it’s going to be another solid hit for Ben. But, um… Matt isn’t in this one!
Unlike half of their projects, this isn’t a collaboration as actors or writers. Technically Matt is an executive producer, in that their production company Artists Equity helped get the film on its feet, taking over from Brett Ratner‘s RatPac-Dune. But this is really Ben’s movie. So it seems Matt went to the premiere just for his bestie! Awwwww!
BTW, y’all notice anything about Matty? He brought his beard with him!
Yeah, he’s got some pretty shaggy whiskers going right now. That’s actually because he’s in the middle of filming Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey!
And we mean RIGHT in the middle. As in, he flew all the way from Greece where they’re shooting the fantasy epic! From Athens to Austin is a 15+ hour flight! And he had to be back on Monday! No joke, he’s already back, he and Jon Bernthal were both filmed at the airport arriving to get back to shooting Nolan’s huge undertaking!
So did Matt spend over 30 hours on a plane in one weekend just to be there for his BFF Ben? It kinda seems that way! Sure, he saw his wife Luciana while he was in town. But still! Mostly for Ben, right?
Whether Ben is trying to win back Jennifer Garner and upsetting Jennifer Lopez or the other way around, it’s nice he knows there’s one soulmate he can always count on.
