Ann Curry 'Knows More Than Most' About Matt Lauer's Alleged Behavior & 'It Will Destroy Him'

Ann Curry Matt Lauer Megyn Kelly TODAY Show

It sure sounds like Matt Lauer‘s fate may well rest in departed Today anchor Ann Curry‘s hands.

The TV journalist, who worked next to Lauer for 15 years from 1997 to 2012, has apparently not come close to revealing the full extent of the allegations against her disgraced former colleague. And according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly about the matter, if (or when) Ann does speak out, it could truly be lights out for Matt.

The insider delivered one of the more ominous and foreboding quotes we’ve heard in a while when relaying what she knows — and what she might be capable of, if she chooses to share it — saying (below):

“Ann has maintained a dignified silence, but a lot of people confided in her years ago and still do to this day. She knows more than most about the man Matt really is, and when she finally speaks out, it will destroy him.”

WOW.

That’s quite a bit to take in there.

As we know from previous reporting, Curry allegedly did come forward at one point to warn NBC execs of Lauer’s behavior around women, though it doesn’t appear any corrective action was ever taken. And, years later, one of the execs in question denied ever even having been told of Lauer’s alleged bad behavior…

Still, it appears Curry was something of a confidante for Lauer’s alleged rape victimBrooke Nevils — and this source claims she may be that for more women in a similar situation, as well. If this is true, and Curry ever came forward with everything she knew, then it really might be lights out for Lauer.

Megyn Kelly Steps In…

Enter another former colleague at NBC to weigh in on the Lauer story: Megyn Kelly.

The one-time in-demand daytime TV host went on Tucker Carlson‘s Wednesday night show on Fox News and called Lauer a “sexual predator,” while demanding an independent investigation into the rape and sexual harassment allegations against him. (BTW, in case you were wondering, Wednesday night’s hit on Tucker actually marked Kelly’s very first time back showing her face on TV since being fired by NBC almost exactly a year ago.)

Anyways, when referencing Ronan Farrow‘s damning new book Catch And Kill that discusses all these allegations, Kelly made a very good point about the network’s hollow denials (below):

“NBC has put out several statements saying that Ronan is a conspiracy theorist and this is all nonsense and he’s got an ax to grind. But if that’s true and there’s nothing to hide, then get an outside investigator … There needs to be an outside investigation into this company. They investigated themselves. That doesn’t work. Fox did an outside investigation [over Roger Ailes], and CBS did an outside investigation [over Les Moonves].”

Can’t believe we’re saying this about a former Fox News host speaking out on the cable channel’s most divisive and despicable daily show, but seriously, not a bad point!!!

For what it’s worth, NBC did do an internal investigation back in 2017 when Lauer was fired… but the investigation was run by the network’s own lawyers, and only focused on how execs handled the 61-year-old’s ousting.

For Kelly (for most of us, really), that’s just not good enough.

And the former TV host wasn’t done there, either, adding (below):

“The question is open as to whether they put dollars ahead of decency, about whether they were more interested in protecting their star anchor than they were in protecting the women of the company. The number one thing that needs to happen right now is they need to release any and all Matt Lauer accusers from their confidentiality agreements. Let’s not hide anything. Show us all of the agreements. NBC hasn’t gotten specific about what they paid. Show us the agreements.”

Lots of pressure being put on NBC here!

The network has not yet responded to Kelly’s interview, but clearly this — especially in conjunction with Curry’s apparent insider knowledge — must surely be throwing 30 Rock for a loop.
